Gamma-O Celebrates Excellent Year at Grand Conclave
LAS VEGAS, NEV: In July, eight undergrads and one alumnus from Gamma-Omicron attended the 75th Biennial Grand Conclave of Kappa Sigma at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. In addition to networking and leadership training time, as well as plenty of fellowship, the attendees were proud to bring home several awards handed out during the Finest Hour reception and banquet on Saturday night.
For the SIXTH straight year, the chapter was recognized with the Founders’ Award for Chapter Excellence (FACE), typically given to the top 10% of Kappa Sigma chapters across the country. To win one award requires extreme diligence and commitment to many areas of Kappa Sigma programming, including ritual, academics, community service, and recruitment. To win the award six years in a row is a testament to the high character and culture of our boys in Lawrence.
The FACE award was the highlight, but as you can see in the photo there were many other pieces of hardware. Once again, Gamma-O was a Champion Chapter for being above 65 members (or largest on campus) and was one of the Top 25 Recruiting Chapters (9th overall). They received the Silver Bowl for 6 straight semesters of GPA exceeding the All-men’s average. They were recognized for Outstanding Single Community Service Event (Rock Chalk Revue). And many individuals received awards, including Luke Billingsley (Outstanding Grand Procurator), Gavin McAftery (Outstanding Grand Master of Ceremonies), Waseem Mansi (Outstanding Grand Scribe), and alumnus Cory Sims (District Grand Master of the Year)!
Gamma-O is returning several leaders for the 2025-2026 campaign, and already has one of the largest pledge classes in chapter history, setting up what is certain to be their seventh consecutive FACE Award in 2026.
