Join Kappa Sigma

Note from Tanner Bailly, President of KU Kappa Sigma

Greek Life is a long-standing tradition at KU. Our chapter of Kappa Sigma has been influential in the development of that historic tradition. Founded in 1912 and housed since the 1930s, Kappa Sigma at KU has been instrumental in the development and growth of young men for more than 100 years. During that time, our chapter has seen notable alumni such as Honorable Bob Dole (former senator and 1996 presidential candidate), Robert Eaton (former CEO of Chrysler), Alan Mulally (former CEO of Ford), and many others. Kappa Sigma’s legacy at KU stands above the rest due to our dedication to success and pursuit of excellence.

Today, our members still strive for excellence. For the last three semesters, Kappa Sigma has outperformed the All-Men’s average with a 3.2 GPA or better. Our brothers received several thousand dollars in academic awards from our local alumni and national fraternity every year, something no other KU fraternity can claim. We’re active on campus and around Lawrence; In the 2019-2020 school year we logged over 3,000 hours of community service and donated over $13,000 to various charities. Many of our members also participate in various intramural sports and KU clubs.

Why should you join Kappa Sigma at KU? Sure, everyone knows about the social aspect, but there is much more to Kappa Sigma than that. Kappa Sigma helps its members develop leadership and professional skills through various house positions. Our large alumni base provides our members with many potential career opportunities. Older members support our underclassmen when they struggle academically. For athletes, our members provide a team for intramural sports. However, out of the thousands of reasons to join KU Kappa Sigma, the most important one is our brotherhood. Please reach out to us today and see for yourself why we have a brotherhood and fraternity unlike any other at the University of Kansas.
